#42 - Animals

#42
Artist: Pink Floyd
Album: Animals
Year of Release: 1977
Label: Capital

I previously mentioned that I often find music through odd channels.  My introduction to Pink Floyd is one such story.  I worked at Wild Oats for two summers back when that was a thing.  My "coolest" co-worker was a 40-year old ex-felon who was always just vibing, man.  I got a lot of good music off of him but none more memorable than Animals.  And while a collection of ten-minute-plus songs about specific British politicians isn't the best entry point to Pink Floyd for most, it was perfect for a weirdo like me.  Specifically, "Dogs" is a tour-de-force of righteous anger and layered sections that leads to a finale that "Stairway to Heaven" wishes it could have earned.
