"Boredoms are like a moon on a lake.  Only there is no moon and no lake.  Only Boredoms."
    -Yamantaka Eye

My steel trap of a memory is good for some things but it also retains every single time I've shared music I like with someone who responds with either indifference or worse, active disgust.  For this album the party in question is a certain wife who upon hearing the first track said "why would you do that to your song."  To answer her question I would say "because it's awesome."  But joking aside, I do think this phenomenon speaks to something specific and unique about music as an art form.  It's well established that people seek out music that sounds familiar, and so the gradual steps one takes to liking something off the beaten path (in this case, tribal-infused noise rock) are inherently personal.  At the same time, music is the "squishiest" art form as its success is often tied to how it makes the participant feel.  Taken together, these assertions mean that sharing music you like can be seen as trying to communicate something about yourself that you can only say in this manner.  So while there's something existentially sad about not being able to force people to like things, it's also extremely understandable.

Anyway this is a good album you should listen to it thanks.
