#24 - Through Silver in Blood

#24
Artist: Neurosis
Album: Through Silver in Blood
Year of Release: 1996
Label: Relapse

Picking a favorite Neurosis record is impossible.  Their progression through so many iterations of their brand of sludgy metal has been remarkable in its consistency.  The rawness of Souls at Zero, the refinement of The Eye of Every Storm, the standout tracks from A Sun that Never Sets - every one of these feels like it deserves its own place on this list.  So I'm going to go with the default answer for best Neurosis album in part because I am a coward, but also because I do actually think it's their best effort.  Every strength is on display here from the relentlessness of the opening track to the concision of "Locust Star" and "Eye" to the haunting nature of "Purify."
